[Q] I need an official firmware..

Hello,

one of my friends got her S3 stuck in a boot loop, it can go into recovery and it is detected by odin. So I thought I could just flash the official firmware and this may fix it.

I went over to sammobile but they changed something with the firmware section since the last time I was there.. I can't find older firmware.

The phone is I9300 and I am looking for the latest firmware for Egypt.

Do you guys have any idea what I should do?

Alternatively, I am trying to save the data here, do you know of any non wipe firmware? I am trying to get her phone up without losing data.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks!

running android with no launcher app

hi all, its been a long time now since i first thought on running my phone without any homescreen/launcher app, since i am no fan of fancy animations, rather than that i prefer a phone that doesn't lag and have a decent battery life I've installed the simpliest slimest launcher i know (slim launcher) it weighs only 0.9 mb, but still it uses ram and processor to run, now given that I'm on slimkat it jumped to me again, having slim pie /notification shortcuts, ive decided to set all my apps into those tools, meaning fill up three slim pie rows with essential apps and notification shortcuts with the rest, but before i do anything i would like to read some insights from other users, possible limitations when deleting my last launcher app, and if it would/wouldn't be beneficial regarding battery life and performance, atm i see just one limitation and it's the number of apps i can install to my phone due to the limited amount of free spaces on slim pie + notification shortcuts

any thoughts would be pretty much appreciated

[Q] S3 SD Card encryption algorithm

$

I have an S3 whose external SD card failed and it won't mount. I had most of the data backed up, but a few things I'm really trying to get to. Unforunately, to add insult to injury, the SD card was also encrypted.

When I remove the SD card and place it in a Linux computer, I can see the files by correct (cleartext) filename. I can download them. However, when I try to open a jpg or play a video, I get an error that it's not a recognized file type. I believe this is due to eCryptfs file encryption, but I'm not sure.

I was able to recover the key file from the root of the phone, but I'm still unable to decrypt the files.

Can anyone provide a brief overview of the type of encryption on this device (ie, confirm or not confirm that external SD cards are encrypted with eCryptfs) and provide general settings as to how it's encrypted? I think I have all of the raw tools to decrypt the data and rescue whatever I can, but I'm not sure I have the settings right or even the right encryption type (could it be dm-crypt?).

Any help appreciated.

Hi !

It's pretty simple, you just have to install Kingo Android Root and follow instructions !

It's not really a tutorial but it's for everyone who are searching for the solution to make it more visible :)

If Kingo stay on "Connecting to your device" or something else, just restart the process.

Dear friends, i have a strange problem: i took a cwm-backup (Original Samsung 4.3 Rom) from one I9300 and restored it after a full-wipe on an other I9300. Also Bootloader and Modem are the same. Everything works fine, only the Wifi-Connection failed. I can't access any Router with the message: "authorisation failed" ... and the WPA-Key is correct!

Stuck in Philz Touch 4 Recovery

Hello guys!

I tried to update the latest nightly on my phone (the last one was from July 2013, so I think it was still CM 10.1) with the CM Installer and rebooted.

Unfortunately I got an error message while in the update screen with the green Android figure and now I am stuck in Philz Touch 4 Recovery menu.

I already tried a factory reset, but I always end up in this recovery menu after restart.

How can I make my phone working again?

I am grateful for any help!

thank you in advance

Camera Comparison - AOSP and Samsung ROMs

$

Hi Guys,

Did a bit of a camera comparison showing the differences between UltimaROM and UltimaAOSP, highlighting the differences between Samsung and AOSP ROMs like CM/Omni etc. Thought it was worth sharing it here.

In a nutshell, AOSP can take acceptable camera phone shots, but struggles when compared against the stock app. Exposure issues when faced with high contrast scenes and focusing problems on bright lights in addition to a lack of vividness means for some, the AOSP experience will never be complete.

Check out my Instagram to see the quality of some of the shots taken on my S3 using UltimaROM (Samsung base).

Any questions regarding the differences, from someone who values the camera performance of his device, then let me know!

Regards.

Convert IMG into Odin flashable TAR.MD5

$

Hello dear humans,
This tutorial will help you convert simple IMG files into TAR.MD5, which is flashable using Odin (Mobile or PC version both).
For this you need to install JAVA JDK and Cygwin from the links below.

JAVA JDK: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/ja...s-2133151.html
Cygwin: content.wuala.com/contents/neroyoung/XDA%20ROM%20Dev%20Tools/Cygwin.zip

How to install?
-Before doing anything, install Java then install Cygwin by extracting the zip and then extracting the cygwin_packages.zip, Run the cygwin.exe setup and select "Install from local...." then select the folder containing extracted files from cygwin_packages.zip, then click the "S" like button on all

and install in a folder you can access easily using commands.
(THE ABOVE LINKS ARE ONLY FOR WINDOWS VERSION OF JDK AND CYGWIN, IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL IN OTHER OPERATING SYSTEMS SO PLEASE GOOGLE IT. #IN LINUX DON'T INSTALL ANYTHING JUST DO IT IN THE TERMINAL)

Now in folder installed cygwin, go to home open cygwin.exe or open it from the shortcut in your desktop (THE IMG FILE AND CYGWIN MUST BE IN SAME FOLDER), lets name our IMG file recovery.img, in cygwin type the following commands without $ [Because cygwim already types $ before a command]

$ tar -H ustar -c recovery.img >
recovery.tar
$ md5sum -t recovery.tar >> recovery.tar
$ mv recovery.tar recovery.tar.md5

Congrats you've successfully concerted your IMG file.to Odin flashable TAR.MD5

Hit Thanks if this helped you
