Hi all,
Firstly thanks in advance for any help you are able to offer.
I am about to add a Recovery, Root & Custom Rom to my ageing Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300, running JellyBean 4.3
Also I have a Macbook, so no PC available.
I am based in the UK.
So I want to add TWRP as my recovery, followed by SuperSU, back up the phone with Titanium Back Up and then add an appropriate CyanogenMod.
Rather than using apps to install, I'd prefer to flash TWRP to my phone via Jodin3 on my Mac, then add SuperSU by installing from zip, followed by installing CyanogenMod from zip too.
I have watched countless videos and read plenty here on the forum, including a message that said it's best to ask here before proceeding, as its easier to guide someone, than fix a mess they've made.
My problem is, I want to make sure I have the correct versions of TWRP, SuperSU and CyanogenMod for my phone model and Android version before proceeding, but I'm unsure of what I'm finding online.
Here's what I've found so far:
TWRP
xxx.dl.twrp.me/i9300/
(I'm thinking of downloading twrp-3.0.2-1-i9300.img.tar and hoping this is an up to date version that will run on my phone)
SuperSU
xxx.download.chainfire.eu/969/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.76-20160630161323.zip
CyanogenMod
xxx.download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=snapshot&device=i9300
xxx.download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=nightly&device=i9300
(I'm unsure which version to take from these two links, remember I'm on JellyBean 4.3)
I'll no doubt have further questions about this as I proceed but any help that can be offered at this initial phase would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again.... Calhoon
