Hi all,
First post ever after years of using your advices.
My writted english is pretty bad, so my apologizes in advance. If you understand spanish you can also see this tutorial in my own languaje where maybe I explain better (lajournalista.cl/tecnologia/tutorial-update-s3-i9300-a-android-4-3-despues-de-reparar-imei/)

This are the steps that I follow to update my S3 I9300 from 4.1.2 to 4.3 after lost & recovery my IMEI (0049) (by box)
So, it's probable that if you never lost your IMEI the bottom half of this tutorial is not needed, the first part is ODIN update but I'm going to explain anyway.
This is my first tutorial, so I really appreciate any question to improve the info, advice to make it better or ask for credit if something here is yours and I didn't have your name here.

IMPORTANT:
  1. This tutorial is what works for me, please if you don't what are you doing be carefull ALWAYS backup your phone in case something whent wrong. I'M NOT RESPONSABLE IF YOU BRIKE YOUR PHONE
  2. You must have a backup of your EFS folder
  3. In my case, the IMEI whas recovered by box
  4. My phone is from Entel company in Chile model GT-I9300
  5. AGAIN... make a backup of your EFS folder AND a complite backup of your phone

I used the following apps/files for this tutorial:
- ROM stock from Brazil ZTO I9300UBUGMK6_I9300ZTOUGMK3_ZTO downloaded from Sammobile, I choose this ROM cause the chilean is not available yet, but usualy is the same ROM used in Brazil
- Kernel & modem parcheados by yesilcin.com XXUGMK6 (I can't remember from where I download this files, so if this is your hint clame your credit)
- Backup of your EFS folder, specifically the files nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5
- Root Explorer
- SuperSU v1.65
- UPDATE SuperSU v1.80 (optional)
- ODIN 3.09
- CF Root v6.4

Let's do this:
1.- Extract (unzip) the firmware file
2.- Open Odin3 v3.09 in admin mode from Windows 7 and up
3.- Restart phone in download mode (Press and hold Home + Power + Volume down buttons)
4.- Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin with something like 0:[COM7] & <ID:0/007> Added!! in “Message”
5.- Click in AP and select the file I9300UBUGMK6_I9300ZTOUGMK3_ZTO.tar.md5.
6.- Wait till ODIN check the file and when you have a check mark in AP make sure that Auto reboot and F.Reset Time are checked and that Re-partition is UNCHECKED
7.- Press Start
8.- After reset and when the upper left box is green and say PASS your are Ok... this is after white and blue color and a lot of steps boot, system, modem, etc.

*** Until here, this is a regular update, if your phone have signal and your IMEI is ok, you're done and can skip the next steps***
*** If your IMEI is right but still "No signal" follow the next steps***
9.- After reset go to Config --> More --> About the device click severel time in "Compilation N°" till activate the Developer Options
10.- In Developer Options activate USB debugging
11.- Turn off the phone and go back to ODIN (repeat steps 2, 3 & 4)
12.- In AP put the CF-Root-v6.4 to root your phone, press Start and wait till ODIN says PASS
13.- Then copy this files in to the SD:
- Kernel & modem parcheados by yesilcin.com XXUGMK6
- Backup of your EFS folder, specifically the files nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5
- Root Explorer APK
